Recently, Avin & I were caught in a situation where our decisions were being questioned by the other party involved.
The tough thing is not being questioned on our decision. What’s difficult for us was to be strongly pushed to accept the other party’s point of view of our decision. Obviously, we do not agree with his view!
Well, sometimes, people forget, that no matter how right they think they are (for watever reason - ’wisdom’ that comes wiht age, self rightousness, ‘experience’), that it is totally not their place to impose their thoughts or beliefs on someone else. And that includes trying to share Christ with someone .
We forget that the other party comes from a different background, with a different mindset, differing values, and definitely a different understanding of the issue at hand.
We want to play God and change the minds and hearts of others. We want to be RIGHT. And we want others to KNOW and ACKNOWLEDGE we’re right.
That’s just crazily unacceptable to me!
We forget that it is not men (that is, US) who convicts, but the Holy Spirit.
What we do as frail human, regardless of how sure we are of our decisions, is to lift them up to God and say ‘I may be wrong, show and guide me and reassure me’. We do not force others to make that prayer, neither do we force our convictions on them.
In life, there’s so many gray areas, Christians or not. And the truth is, esp for Christian, when you’re in doubt of your actions or someone else’s action, it’s really not for you to justify to make it ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. Justification to men barely means anything compared to our justification to God.
At the end of the day.. in gray areas, it’s not about what we think or want others to think.
To me, it’s not how eloquent I am in convincing others or justifying my actions to others, it’s how certain and sure I can be when I’m justifying to God and God alone.
Hence, you don’t need impose your convictions on me. In the same way I wont on you. Don’t play God on me. We are not worthy.
